Neben Lenya, das vor kurzem zum Top-Level-Projekt avancierte, entsteht mit Graffito unter dem Dach der Apache Software Foundation ein weiteres CMS-Projekt. Während Lenya auf Cocoon aufsetzt, wird sich Graffito stark an das Portal-Framework „Jetspeed“ anlehnen. Damit zeichnet sich für die Ausgabe von Inhalten und der Kooperation der Autoren eine Ausrichtung auf Portale an, wobei neben Jetspeed alle JSR-168-kompatiblen Systeme in Frage kommen. Das Projekt steckt sich hohe Ziele, die es für den professionellen Einsatz tauglich machen würde:

Graffito offers a complete plateform for creating, managing, and publishing content in your portal or in any other kind of java application. Graffito integrates content repositories, workflow, collaboration and personalization via existing open source projects and powerfull standards like WEBDAV.

Unter den Features befinden sich taxonomy, content versionning, fine grained access control, collaborative editing, publication workflow, scheduling, indexing, searching and more. It will also support many document types like XML, HTML, PDF, MS Office, Open office. Graffito befindet sich derzeit noch zur Bewertung im Incubator-Projekt.
