Magnolia ist in Java geschrieben und wird federführend von der Baseler Firma obinary entwickelt. Zu den Neuerungen der Version 2.0 zählen:

  • browser based rich text editor
  • completely configure Magnolia through the Web-GUI
  • lightning fast caching – more than twice the speed of static html pages
  • A breathtaking new user interface setting the standards of web administration GUIs to come.
  • Complete modularization allows the creation of third party modules to easily extend Magnolia.

Magnolia ist zudem eines der ersten Open-Source-CMS, das die Standard-APIs für Content-Repositories nach JSR-170 implementiert.
